Big Bright Yellow Flower Panel on Curved Glass Stand
This is a stunning piece of glass art made in two separate parts which fit snugly together.
The main square was constructed with a layer of sheet transparent glass, followed by a layer of small mosaics, 'grouted' in between with coloured glass powders.
The first firing ensured a stable base on which to continue decorating.
Hand cut petals, in varying colours were added together with other small glass pieces to form the main structure of the flower. A second firing tacked these all into place.
The final and most decorative layer was then added. Lots of gorgeous detailed insects including ladybirds, butterflies, bees and bugs together with small poppies, sunflowers and tiny coloured glass murrine complete the glorious summer vibe. The final firing of this panel was to a temperature which would leave a beautifully textured surface.
The multi layered base was carefully measured and cut leaving a gap in the middle to accommodate the main square before fusing together.
A further firing over a ceramic mould took place to achieve the curve.
